The only public Afghan maternity is the Malali Maternity in Kabul. Around 100 babies born there everyday. The maternity only got 300 beds so the women cannot stay longer than 6 hours. They give birth in one of the three rusted bed in the dirty delivery room. The beds are always full. As soon as one goes, another arrives. When they finish they got 15 minutes to rest. Then they put their nakers back on without any wash and leave with their newborn baby in a taxi. The fathers are not allowed in the hospital. They wait outside until nurse call them to announce the sex of the baby. The nurse will receive a tips if it's a boy but none if it's a girl.
